Mr. David Ramos

A native of Florida, Mr. Ramos received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Florida State University. He specialized in Special Music Education, learning how to teach and reach students with varying abilities in the music classroom. These courses grounded his philosophy that all students, regardless of ability level, can and should have access to quality music education.

 

Mr. Ramos is a skilled woodwind player. In 2016, he was invited to perform in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Saxophone Workshop and Young Artists Wind Ensemble. While at FSU, Mr. Ramos performed with a myriad of ensembles, including the FSU Wind Orchestra, Wind

Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Saxophone Orchestra, and Marching Chiefs; and in masterclass settings for famed saxophonists like Dr. Joseph Lulloff and Arno Bornkamp. 

 

Mr. Ramos is an avid clinician and researcher in the state of Florida. He has worked band camps at South Fork High School and Ramblewood Middle School. He has also presented at conferences and symposiums on topics such as conductor magnitude, historical perspectives on music education, and representation at Florida Band MPA. Mr. Ramos has several publications with the Florida Music Direcor and continues to write from his perspective as a band director.

After successfully completing a student practicum with Lee Commander, Director of Bands at Leon High School, and an internship with Edgar Rubio, Band Director at Silver Trail Middle School, Mr. Ramos spent a semester at Interlochen Arts Academy, working as an Instructor of Residence Life. He currently holds professional memberships with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Florida Music Education Association (FMEA), and the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA).

 

Under his direction, ensembles at Bradford have earned Excellent and Superior ratings at District and State Assessments.

Mr. Steve Couch

Mr. Couch initially started as the Assistant Director of Bands at Bradford Middle School in the Fall of 2021 while finishing his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from The University of Florida. Mr. Couch is a tubist and double bassist and spent most of his performing career within various orchestras on double bass and tuba across the state and the country including being a member of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Couch's informal teaching career has been spent at schools such as Titusville High School, Central Middle School, Viera High School, and P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School and loves to collaborate with other music teachers across the country!

Mrs. Kim Register Smith

Kim Register Smith, is a lifelong resident of Bradford County and Alumni of BHS. While at Bradford twirled for the Middle and High School from 1990-1996. Her love for baton twirling then went on to the University of Florida where she was a Gatorette from 1996-2002, where she received her Bachelor’s in finance.
 

After graduating from UF she began as an assistant Coach for the Gatorettes with the Gator Band from 2002 to present. Kim started coaching in her community of Bradford back in 2007 for the Bradford Middle School Majorettes and then in 2009 was hired for the Instructor for Bradford High School teaching the Majorettes and Guard for The Pride of Bradford. Also, has been teaching as a majorette instructor with the All-Star Twirling Academy for over 17 years.

To add to Kim’s twirling career, she won 3 NBTA Team National Championships many Superior ratings as a twirlier and coach for FBA district teams and State Solo twirlers.
 

In Kim’s spare time away from coaching, she is married to Zack Smith with two stepdaughters and enjoys spending time with family, living by the lake, watching sunsets; along with working for Reddish & White CPA’s and The Weight Doctor both Starke.
